CBS on Monday announced the names of the first 16 contestants for this season’s Survivor: South Pacific— and among them is a Broward County man.Albert Destrade, 26, of Plantation, who says he is both a baseball and a dating coach, will be introduced when the latest Survivor premiers Sept. 14 at 8 p.m. with a 90-minute episode.Back in 2003, Destrade, who is of Cuban descent, was a stand-out high school outfielder for Florida Christian School in Miami-Dade. Homes and condominiums in some stage of foreclosure accounted for 42 percent of all Broward County sales in the second quarter, a slight increase from a year ago, RealtyTrac Inc. said Thursday. In Palm Beach County, 37 percent of all home and condo sales in April, May and June were in the foreclosure process, up from 25 percent during the same period last year.Nationally, foreclosures accounted for 31 percent of all sales. Broward County’s housing market was one the brightest in Florida in July as home sales and prices rose from a year ago.The county had 1,087 sales of existing homes last month, up 8 percent from July 2010, the Florida Realtors said Thursday. The median price was $193,000, a 5 percent increase.Fort Walton Beach, Melbourne-Titusville and Sarasota-Bradenton were the only other Florida markets where both sales and prices increased. Half the local governments in Broward County are raising their taxes and half are staying the same as last year. According to The Sun-Sentinel, 31 out of 38 cities will be collecting less tax revenue due to continued declines in property prices. This is the third year in a row that cities have faced declines in property tax revenue.
For Plantation, this is $611,943 less than 2010.
The city is cutting expenses and salaries and wages and deferring capital items. The tax revenue has decreased $23.3% from 2008. They must be paid …

According to RealtyTrac, there are 37,384 Foreclosure Homes in Plantation with an a average foreclosure sales price of $121,386. For Broward County, there were 7,393 new foreclosure filings in August.
Sales of single family homes in Broward for August 2010 was 1485 with an average price of $168,000. This number was down on the previous months, when it was 1,850. The average price drop for the month was a thousand dollars.
